What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Information You Provide To Us.  We collect information (name, email address, etc.) from users when they fill out forms on this website, such as: contact form, providing comments or subscribing to receive updates.

We use information you provide to us to deliver the requested product and/or service, to improve our overall performance.

Subscribing to Savor the Harvest posts by email means you will receive the automatic notification when there is new content. If you wish to unsubscribe from this service you can do so at any time either using the link in the email powered by MailChimp or by contacting us directly. Once you’re out, you’re out. You will not be re-added to the mailing list, nor will your data be stored or sold.

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Services. As you navigate through our website, we may use automatic data collection technologies including Google Analytics to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns. This will generally include information about your location, your traffic pattern through our website, and any communications between your computer and our website.  Among other things, we will collect data about the type of computer you use, your Internet connection, your IP address, your operating system, and your browser type.

Comments

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After our approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment if you use a Gravatar service.

If you are an EU resident and wish to have your comments taken down, please get in touch with Savor the Harvest and the comments will be permanently deleted. Third parties are not and will not be sold any of your personal data.

Contact forms

We keep contact form submissions indefinitely for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
