Our New Neighbor

Jeanne d'ArcJeanne d’Arc, declared a national symbol of France in 1803 by Napoleon Bonaparte, and one of the nine patron saints of France, greets us daily as we come an go from our new apartment.

We recently moved to this location: it’s cuts down Mark’s school commute by 10 minutes, and puts us closer to the main down town area of Bordeaux. An additional positive is being on the third (french) floor. Not only is it brighter, we get to climb a spiral staircase several times each day (yes there are some people who get pleasure from climbing stairs).

À droite we have the Jardin Public. À gauche we have the Garonne river and the Quai des Chartrons, a stretch of paved waterfront where people stroll, cycle, and on Sunday mornings, where we enjoy an outdoor market. The Bordeaux Fête le Vin will populate the Quai this June (go here for pictures from the 2014 Fête). Yes, a great location and flat!
