You are invited: Forgotten French Grapes with the #Winophiles

The #Winophiles group of bloggers, writers, and journalists talk about the forgotten grapes of France in February 2025.

What is this all about?!?

You are most likely familiar with grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc. But have you heard of Sacy, Négrette or Poulsard? Or Tibouren, Pineau d’Aunis and Auxerrois? These grapes, each grown in small amounts, make lovely monovarietal wines, meaning wine from the same grape variety.

While some of the less-known wine grapes grown in France are harder to find outside the country, they are well worth a search and certainly good dînatoire or get together conversation pieces!

Each of us – the #Winophiles – found wines made from less common grapes and will feature it on our blog and/or other social channels Saturday, February 8th. I hope I piqued your interest to learn more about these grapes!

Details for How to Participate

You are welcome to jump in and participate in the February French #Winophiles event with us. Or, if you prefer, stay tuned to hear about the wines we discuss made with forgotten French grapes. By this, I mean grapes indigenous to France, yet used much less for one reason or another, or even tossed to the side in favor of international grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. Here are the details…

Send an email to let me know you are in, or post in the Facebook #Winophiles event group. Include your blog url. I’d like to get a sense of who’s participating and give shoutouts and links as we go. The email is lwg.mine[at]gmail[dot]com.
